Friday, February 10 to Saturday, February 11, 2023

Briercrest is partnering with Apologetics Canada to bring you Branded: Rethinking Identity.  This apologetics conference is for both students and community, and will help us to engage and dialogue on topics of identity from a variety of angles.

The conference is here on campus, and it will be live-streamed (Main Sessions) and recorded.  The Main Session will be audio and video, and the breakouts will be audio-only.

Apologetics

Apologetics is often seen as an intellectual defence or debate about a given theory or doctrine, and indeed each our speakers are well-researched and well-informed.  But of equal importance in this conference is the posture with which we engage in dialogue, including learning how to listen well, speaking graciously, and not avoiding the hard conversations.  Our intent is to equip you to advocate for your convictions as well as improve your ability to ask good questions and dialogue with those who don’t necessarily agree with you.

This conference will include topics such as:

  • Engaging Diverse Convictions
  • Sacredness and Sexuality
  • The Church’s Place in the Midst of a Culture of Controversy
  • Exploring the Biblical Theme of Wholeness
  • Are You Good Enough for the Future?
  • Do All Roads Lead to God?
  • Love, Sex, Relationships, and the Kingdom of God

The classes have provided ways in which to challenge my thinking, and how I communicate what I am learning. I've noticed that I bring a more gracious and thoughtful approach to my sermons and lectures at the church where I am serving.
